First Tech Challenge (FTC).

The FIRST Tech Challenge is one of FIRST's three robot competitions. In the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC), teams (up to 15 team members) must design, build and program a robot that must be both controlled and able to move autonomously.

Under the guidance of adult coaches and mentors, the children develop skills and practice engineering principles while becoming aware of the value of hard work, innovation and teamwork.

The challenge

They design, build and program the robots themselves. Our school has equipment for the robots for two teams. Each year the teams are given a new playing field on which they drive the robot and within which they have to do tasks. They also raise money, market their own brand and work on an outreach program. All this to win certain awards. Each edition concludes with regional competitions and the FIRST Championship. Students from Lorentz Casimir Lyceum are participating in the FIRST Tech Challenge. Our school's two teams, Casimir Tech and Lorentz Engineering, are playing in the top of the Benelux. Both teams have already been to America at the First World Championship to represent the Netherlands!
