Interlyceales are the annual matches between the four oldest Dutch lycea on a general basis: the Amsterdam Lyceum from Amsterdam, the Baarnsch Lyceum from Baarn, the Kennemer Lyceum from Overveen and of course the Lorentz Casimir Lyceum from Eindhoven. These competitions have been held annually since 1938 and have been divided into two separate events since 1959: the Sport Interlyceale (S.I.) and the Artistic Interlyceale (A.I.).
The four lycea believe that sport and culture contribute to the overall development and have therefore set up the interlyceales, in which all schools compete for the coveted first place. Per interlyceal, about 400 students participate, and thus one of the biggest annual events.
Artistic Interlyceale
In the third week of March, the Artistic Interlyceale: music, theatre, cabaret, eloquence and dance are the performing arts. Behind the scenes, students work on the visual and literary arts, checkers and chess. The hallways of the school turn into exhibition rooms.
After a first selection, the students perform during a final evening, on which they are judged by expert, external jurors.
Eventually there are over 100 students who represent us during the national Artistic Interlyceale. Bet is the switch cup. The A.I. is a thrilling feast, where the whole school is buzzing with creativity.
