The FIRST Tech Challenge is one of the three robotic competitions of FIRST. In the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC), teams (up to 15 team members) need to design, build and program a robot that needs to be controlled, but also able to move autonomously.
Under the guidance of adult coaches and mentors, the children develop skills and practice engineering principles, as they become aware of the value of hard work, innovation and team collaboration.
They design, build and program the robots themselves. Our school has two teams of equipment for the robots. Every year the teams get a new playing field where they ride with the robot and have to do assignments. They also collect money, put their own brand in the market and work on an outreach program. All this to win certain awards. Each edition ends with regional competitions and the FIRST Championship. Students of the Lorentz Casimir Lyceum participate in the FIRST Tech Challenge. The two teams of our school, Casimir Tech and Lorentz Engineering, will play in the top of the Benelux. Both teams have already been to America at the First World Championship to represent the Netherlands!
