See you soon at the LCL!

Why go to the LCL?

With us in junior high

The Lorentz Casimir Lyceum is known as a school where you learn a lot and we are proud of it! We belong to the best schools in the Netherlands, but above all we are a place where you quickly feel at home. Our school offers a nice environment where learning, sports and relaxing go hand in hand.

Around the school are beautiful sports fields where you can play hockey, football and participate in tournaments all year round. During the introduction days you will get to know your new classmates and discover together how everything works, so that you feel right in place. Together with your new friends, our school soon feels like your place!

We'll help you!

We'd be happy to help you get used to your new school. Your mentor is your permanent contact and confidant, who you can always contact. In addition, your class has two minimentors: Class 4 students who show you how to get to school. You can ask them anything you want! Do you find some classes difficult? Then you can take extra help lessons in French, English, Dutch, mathematics and biology. We also offer guidance on distress and social emotional problems.

Our school also offers extras, such as:

  • Cambridge Pro and strengthens French;
  • BrainSport junior: a high-skill learning line;
  • Drawing and computer science as an examination course;
  • First Lego League (where you develop a robot);
  • Masterclasses at Eindhoven University of Technology.

Quest

Quest is a unique course only offered at the Lorentz Casimir Lyceum. In these lessons you will learn to work together, research, present and evaluate. You work in groups on different projects on current and relevant topics, in which several subjects come together. During Quest, you learn how to handle digital technology and we focus on citizenship formation. You also work on your research skills.

Guest lessons, company visits and workshops of external experts give you a look at the world outside school. Every project ends with a final presentation, where your parents, brothers, sisters and other interested parties are welcome to attend school. During the lessons and presentations you will be well accompanied by your Quest teacher and mentor.

What do we think is important?

  • That there is a safe school climate;
  • That each pupil is seen and known;
  • That differences between pupils are recognised and understood;
  • That you are challenged on your own level;
  • That you will have the opportunity to develop your talents to the maximum;
  • That you are well supervised in your learning process.

Come meet me!

  • Would you like to come and see us sometime? Or would you like to come to an information meeting with your parents/carers? We have made an overview for school year 2024-2025:

Additional information and our spearheads

45 minutes grid

In school year 2022-2023 we introduced the 45 minute schedule in our lesson table. And I like that. Students have more free time at the end of the day!

Key policy

On an annual basis there are (including the key weeks) up to 6 keys for a 1- or 2-hour compartment, 8 keys for a 3-hour compartment, 10 keys for a 4-hour compartment. The 4 test weeks take place in the week before a school holiday.

Spearheads

A number of spearheads within our school we want to mention here extra (there are more of course).

  • New school building in our backyard in 2024 (until then we will continue to teach in the old building)
  • Two-year-old havo/vwo junior
  • One gymnasium, from junior high.
  • Good apprenticeship guidance
  • Use of laptops in addition to using books (from school year 2023-2024)
  • The emphasis on our science subjects for students interested in mathematics
