We will help you!

We will help you get used to your new school. Your mentor is your confidant to whom you can always turn. Your class also has two mini mentors. These are students from class 4 who will quickly show you around the school. You can ask them anything you want! If you find some subjects difficult, you can get extra help. We have help classes in French, English, Dutch, math and biology. You can also get help with fear of failure or social-emotional problems.

Our school also offers you extras such as:

  • Cambridge Pro and reinforced French;
  • BrainSport junior; a learning line for the gifted;
  • Drawing and computer science as an exam subject;
  • First Lego League (developing robots);
  • Master classes at Eindhoven University of Technology.

Quest

Quest is a subject taught only at the Lorentz Casimir Lyceum. During these classes you learn to cooperate, research, present and evaluate. You work in groups on different projects. In these projects you work on a current or relevant topic and several subjects are involved. In this subject you learn to deal with digital technology in our society and we pay attention to citizenship education. In addition, you learn to work on your research skills. A guest lesson, visiting a company or a workshop by an external expert ensure that within Quest you learn what the world outside the school looks like. Each project concludes with a final presentation. Your parents, brothers, sisters and other interested parties are then all welcome at our school. Of course you will be guided by your Quest teacher and your mentor in the lessons and during the presentation.

What do we think is important at the Lorentz Casimir Lyceum?

  • That there is a safe school climate;
  • That every student is seen and known;
  • That differences among students are recognized and understood;
  • That you are challenged at your own level;
  • That you get the opportunities to develop your talents to the maximum;
  • That you are well guided in your learning process.

Come meet us!

Would you like to come and have a look at our place? Or would you like to come to an information meeting together with your parents/guardians? We have made an overview for school year 2023-2024.

Additional information and our spearheads

45-minute schedule

In school year 2022-2023, we introduced the 45-minute schedule in our teaching schedule. And we like it. Students have more free time at the end of the class day this way!

Testing policy

On a yearly basis there are (including the test weeks) a maximum of 6 tests for a 1 or 2-hour subject, 8 tests for a 3-hour subject, 10 tests for a 4-hour subject. The 4 weeks of tests take place the week before a school vacation.

Spearheads

Some of the focal points within our school we would like to mention here additionally (of course there are more).

  • New school building in "our backyard" in 2024 (until then, we'll just keep teaching in the old building)
  • Two-year havo/vwo bridge class
  • One gymnasium, starting in the bridge class
  • Good student guidance
  • Use of laptops in addition to the use of books (from school year 2023-2024)
  • Emphasis on our STEM subjects for students interested in mathematics
