On Wednesday 27 November 2024 we celebrated a special milestone: the official opening of our new school building in Eindhoven. Although the building was in use since August 21, this day was marked by a festive start to a new chapter. After 15 months of building and a summer move we can proudly say: It is a modern, sustainable and forward-looking building that is ready for the generations to follow.
The opening began with inspiring words from our rector/director Rob van Velthoven and the chairman of the student council Thijmen Haverkorn van Rijsewijk, followed by an interesting panel discussion with the construction partners. They shared insights about the construction process and the challenges along the way. A special moment was the unveiling of a painting made by our own staff. This artwork, which has a prominent place in the building, symbolizes the collaboration within our school. Alderman Stijn Steenbakkers then talked about the importance of our sustainable building for education and the city of Eindhoven. The day ended festively with a joint song and a pleasant drink.
The new building combines modern architecture with a green, quiet environment. Large windows provide plenty of light and an inspiring view. The layout offers overview and structure thanks to knowledge domains such as language, sport and binask. Modern facilities, including workspaces, a sciencelab and studios, stimulate both collaboration and independent learning. For juniors there is even a private break room on the central quade.
Sustainability was central to construction. The building is built with energy efficient and circular materials, resulting in minimal emissions of nitrogen and CO2. We thus contribute to a more sustainable future and a small ecological footprint.
With this building we set a new standard for modern and forward-looking education. It's not just a building, it's a place where students develop, work together and grow. We are proud of this milestone and look confidently to the future that we are going to build together here!
