Our story, our ambition

Whoever drives into the Celebeslaan sees a small metropolitan school with about 1150 students, hidden in the green, in a beautiful . . . if not the most beautiful place on the edge of Eindhoven. A place that radiates peace. But appearances are deceiving: There is a dynamic environment in which young people prepare for a valuable position in society via HAVO, ATHENUM or Gymnasium. This requires knowledge and skills, but it is also important to be socially and emotionally strong. The employees of the Lorentz Casimir Lyceum guide and encourage that and challenge the student and himself, every day, every week.

This is us.

The Lorentz Casimir Lyceum belongs to the four oldest Dutch lycea on a general basis. A school with a rich history. That sounds through in the now. As a Brainport school, we feel at home in this high-tech region; There is an entrepreneurial and innovative mind with design thinking as the basis. Our education consequently moves along the axes of innovation & technology versus entrepreneurship & sustainability (SDGs).

Our core values

The results match our ambitions. Every year we belong to the top of the VO schools in the area of our success rates. A close and involved team points the way. Together we challenge students to explore: intellectual, in himself and in the world. Students have a lot of freedom of choice and are offered education in a safe environment. At the Lorentz Casimir Lyceum a student can and may be himself; We're a warm school, a close community. The core values are guiding the behaviour of students and our staff: challenge, curiosity, responsibility, solidarity, pleasure and respect.

Our future

The world is constantly moving and our school is participating in this changing world, always shaking its feathers and taking steps forward to achieve an optimal climate. Soon that will be new housing. It is green, in terms of environment and energy use. Our new building is almost energy neutral. And learning in green gives peace and energy! There is a sea of opportunities for a wonderful future.

Innovation

Innovation is the key word to keep in touch with society and the learner of today and tomorrow. We're going down that road now. Our havo is a strong educational concept that deserves its own attention. Students start working on realistic challenges in cooperation with further education and field of work. There lies the challenge for these smart doers. This motivates students who, in addition to increasing theoretical knowledge, like to be practical. Athensum and gymnasium prepare students for scientific education. They are given more freedom of choice; in addition to the regular roster, students can develop on themes they consider important. Additional activities are offered to suit their talent development. In both educational concepts, the researching spirit of the pupils is repeatedly addressed. In the HAVO concept, students learn to conduct practical research, while vwo students also see the difference between basic and practical research.

Talent development of our students

We are proud of all our students and everyone at this school gets to have success experiences. All courses are equally strong. Different, but equally strong. We not only train students for a diploma, we help to develop those talents that they now need in society and further education. We visualize the student's talent development in their talent passport. Students are not only trained for a diploma, but also focus on 21st century skills and digital literacy. Students find their way into society and steps well prepared in further education.

Additional courses and challenges

Students are guided in their development by teachers who guide and support the way. Lorentz Casimir Lyceum opens the world by introducing students to many additional subjects, activities and realistic challenges. With our partners, school organises olympiads, Interlyceals and the student gets an idea of the world of robotics. In all respects, we challenge students. Together, we make sure they get the best out of themselves. What's best, they decide for themselves; We also think it is important that students have a good time and feel happy. At school young people work on their future and friendships are formed. We're just a nice school, too. And that helps to learn!

Additional guidance

If extra care is needed, it is present. Our school has a strong support team, with specializations in, among other things, gift, dyslexia and failure. Young people today face many distractions and choices. In addition, students develop at their own pace. This is why the Lorentz Casimir Lyceum offers a two-year bridge period, giving students longer time to make the right choice for a level that suits them. The aim of this two-year bridge period is to give pupils time to land well in secondary education. We guide all students on their way to adulthood to face the world openly. Together, we'll make sure they're ready. The Lorentz Casimir Lyceum sees you standing and challenges you, at every stage of this wonderful journey of discovery.
