Our history

We have a long educational experience of over 90 years(!). The former Lorentz Lyceum was founded in 1929 by parents who did not find in Eindhoven the appropriate education they envisioned for their children. They were inspired by the Nobel laureate Hendrik Antoon Lorentz. He was a leading physicist who was an inspiration to many parents, often Philips employees. In 1930, the Lorentz Lyceum opened its doors at 15-17 Parklaan. In the early 1960s, the school got its own building on Celebeslaan.

Amalgamation of schools

The adjacent school, the Rommert Casimir Havo, was also founded by parents inspired by Rommert Casimir, educator and educational innovator who stood for the importance of a modern approach in education.

In 1996, these two schools merged to form the Lorentz Casimir Lyceum for havo, atheneum and gymnasium education. In 1999, the two schools were physically connected by adding an intermediate building.

New construction

However, the school buildings no longer meet current educational building requirements and are in need of renovation. The new building of the Lorentz Casimir Lyceum will come in the backyard of the current building. The new school year 2024-2025 will start in the new building; the old building will be demolished in the summer of 2024.
