Reporting sick and getting better

A student's sick call can be reported directly by parents in Magister. This can be done through the App as well as through Magister Web. The report can be made for the same day or the next day, indicating the expectation when the student will be better again.
If the student is fit enough to return to school, we ask parents to report this in Magister as well. If the student has a medical appointment, such as a visit to the dentist, orthodontist, general practitioner or medical specialist, this can also be reported in Magister. The date and time the student will be absent must then be entered.

Reporting sick in Magister is as follows:

  • In Magister, go to the Absence heading.
  • Choose Report Absence to record an absence due to a medical appointment.

Calling in sick during a school day

If a student feels sick during the school day and wants to go home, contact is always made with home before we let the student go home. Therefore, we ask that you report by phone that the student has arrived home safely so that we do not have to worry unnecessarily.

For absences of longer duration, mutual contact between parents and mentor is necessary, for example to make homework arrangements. If tests and the like have been missed due to absence, the student makes an appointment with the teacher as soon as possible to make up the work. Missed tests can be made up at the common catch-up hours on Friday afternoons. Upper school students are subject to the regulations in the examination regulations, which are very strict regarding absence from tests. These regulations can be found on LCL Home, which students have access to.

Unauthorized absence, i.e. truancy, leads to a discussion with the year group coordinator and appropriate action. After 5 reports of unauthorized absences, parents are notified and after 10 incidents of unauthorized absences and/or tardy reports, we are legally obliged to report this to the compulsory attendance officer, who then takes over from the school. Parents and student will be notified.
